With a formal education in computer science, Nate Aune has always been intrigued with utilizing cutting edge technology to find solutions to everyday problems. He has been helping organizations with their IT needs since 1999 through his company Jazkarta, based in Boston, MA.

As founder of the Plone4Artists project, Boston Plone Users Group, and member of the Plone Foundation Board, Nate is very active in the Plone community. Nate regularly gives talks at conferences and organizes coding sprints at which developers come together from all over the world to code and share ideas.


Adriaan Bloem, Radagio

image Adriaan Bloem is co-founder of Dutch content management consultancy Radagio. He’s a guest analyst at CMS Watch and member of the steering committee of CM Pros Benelux.

Previously, he was project manager at Leiden University, where he worked on a wide range of web projects, including the selection and implementation of a new CMS, the electronic learning environment and systems for the administration and grading of legal essays. He was also involved in the development of a custom CMS at the Center for eLaw and the implementation of several commercial and open source content management systems.

Cram has played an integral role in establishing the agency as a national leader in Web strategy, design and technology services. Cram has consulted for companies including Siemens, Xerox, Nike, Nintendo and WebTrends. He is a frequent speaker at national conferences on topics including Web analytics, search engine marketing and Web usability. Prior to ISITE Design, Cram worked for Nike as a Web communications consultant and led Web initiatives for WebTrends, the market leader in Web analytics solutions. Cram resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Linfield College.

image Rob Dawson is a Senior Software Engineer at Ephox Corporation. He is one of the lead developers in their future content authoring tools. Rob has a wide range of software development and consulting experience, having worked on projects in pretty much every conceivable timezone, and he is currently based out of Brisbane, Australia, with his wife and 2-year-old son Isaac. When he isn’t working on software, he spends most of his time being a dad.

image Percussion Software CTO Vernon Imrich frequently speaks and writes on CM-related topics such as content integration, XML workflow, and emerging web trends. He pursued graduate research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and has more than a decade of product architecture and design experience.

Salim Ismail, Yahoo

Presentation: Internet 3.0: The Web as a Content Management System

image Salim Ismail is a successful angel investor and entrepreneur and is currently heading up the Brickhouse at Yahoo! The Brickhouse is Yahoo’s newly-launched program for rapid product development. He also co-founded Confabb.com (where he serves as Chairman) and advises numerous startups and founders on growing technology ventures.

In all, Salim has operated seven early-stage companies. He is a frequent speaker on internet technologies, private equity and entrepreneurship. Check out his blog, You’ve Got Ismail.

He is best known for co-founding and building PubSub Concepts, a New York based startup which builds Internet-scale Publish/Subscribe systems and is redefining how content is delivered over the Internet. PubSub was launched in early 2004 and led the category of Prospective Search starting with RSS and blogs. PubSub launched the Structured Blogging Initiative in 2005 with participation from over 50 leading technology companies. Salim built it to a $15 million valuation.

He started his career with CSC Europe building large-scale application systems and then spent five years as a management consultant restructuring some of the largest companies in Europe.

In 2001, Salim was presented with a New York City Award of Recognition by the Giuliani Administration, and in 2003 was nominated by Crain’s Magazine as one of New York City’s “Top 40 under 40” businesspeople. He frequently presents and speaks at conferences on the future of the internet, digital media, entrepreneurship and and private equity.

He has traveled extensively, has lived and worked in eight different countries, speaks 2.75 languages and has an honors degree in theoretical physics and computing from the University of Waterloo near Toronto, Canada.


Ruth Kaufman, Avenue A / Razorfish

Ruth Kaufman is a Senior Content Strategist at Avenue A | Razorfish. Her ten years of experience with web content span the full content supply chain – from writing and production to content management, retrieval and distribution. She has worked with a university program, a business news distributor, a content aggregation/syndication service provider, and IBM’s global web strategy team. Her most recent focus area has been on metadata and taxonomy for enterprise-scale content integration. Ruth was trained in cartography and has produced seminars for local New York City artists about web content strategy and effective site design for self-promotion.

imageMary Laplante is Vice President of The Gilbane Group, an analyst and consulting firm that provides education, advice and market expertise in content management technologies. She oversees the Gilbane Group consulting practice, manages research projects, contributes editorial content, and participates in Gilbane conferences and other industry events.

Laplante has twenty years of experience in standards, publishing, software marketing, and research and consulting arenas. Prior to joining the Gilbane Group, she was a founding partner in Fastwater LLP, a consulting firm that helped companies take new products to market. From 1996 through 1998, she was a Director in the Dynamic Software Strategies Group at CAP Ventures/InfoTrends, a research and consulting firm that tracks markets for document and printing technology. She was the first Executive Director of the organization now known as OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards), serving from 1993 through 1996. John Lovett, Aberdeen Group

John Lovett focuses on the online customer experience and researches strategies and technologies that companies utilize to deliver a superior online environment. Marsh has focused on online communications since 1996. Before joining NAR in 2005, Marsh was president of Content Company, an online content consultancy that helped associations, nonprofit organizations, and corporations communicate more effectively online.

Laura Melcher is Manager of Editorial Development for REALTOR.org, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) site serving Realtors, the media and consumers. Known as “The Voice for Real Estate,” NAR serves more than 1.3 million members, providing research, advocacy and\ governance.

Prior to joining NAR, Laura was Intranet Communications Manager for HSBC - North America, a global financial services company based in the United Kingdom. At HSBC, she managed intranet strategy, governance/standards and enhancements for the U.S. and Canada sites.

Laura began her career as a print (newspaper) journalist before moving into online media in the late 1990s. Her career interests include strategic site management, content development and management, usability and Web 2.0.


Todd O’Neill, DoingMedia

Presentation: Web Content Management to Web Content Operations

Todd O’Neill is a consultant and business analyst with 5 years of in the trenches, web content management experience at a Fortune 200 financial services company. He has “managed content” of some kind for over 20 years, from online ecommerce to CD-ROM for the-artist-known-again-as Prince to award winning video programs.

He is the author of DoingMedia, a blog for “clueless media producers.” He has taught college courses in California and Texas and presented at conferences for more than decade.

When not working with clients, talking with students, or writing a blog post, Todd spends time cycling, woodworking and puttering around the house.
